Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

<div class="FRIDAY-CONFESSIONAL-HIGH-HEELED-LOVE-button" style="width: 200px; margin: 0 auto;"> <a href="" rel="nofollow"> <img src="" alt="FRIDAY CONFESSIONAL at HIGH-HEELED LOVE" width="200" height="256" /> </a> </div>

I confess...

This has been an interesting kind of week. I alluded to changes at work in yesterday's post, but didn't want to get into it. Basically, a stream of income has been "temporarily" cut from my business starting at the beginning in June.

I fully expect this will become a permanent change, which means I'm evaluating parts of my business model and exploring ways to grow my other lines of production. I was pretty stressed the other day when the announcement was made, but I've had time to process and get some perspective so it's not so scary now.

I confess...

I've decided this should be a kick in the pants to be more serious about some business goals that I have. When I took a leadership course a few years ago, we created business plans and 5-year goals. I haven't been as dedicated to those goals as I should have been. I've re-committed to several of them, and luckily, the Mister is willing to help hold me accountable.

I confess...

I met up with our local group to work on our yarnbombing pieces or other projects. It's been so nice to meet up with a group of ladies and chat over coffee and yarn.

Amongst the ladies, I was the only one who wasn't knitting; it was kind of fun to answer some questions about crochet. My yarnbombing piece is about halfway done.

I confess...

I had to take a break from jujitsu the week after taking several hard falls on Monday. Sometimes working out with big strong guys isn't a good thing...especially when they don't really how much strength they're adding to a particular technique.

This is exactly why there is a healing curriculum taught in our system as well. When you train hard, dings are a part of your future. Luckily, I was able to get my neck adjusted during Wednesday's class and felt much better afterward.

I confess...

I'm behind on my homework for the healing course. I still have to give nine massage treatments before our next class in two weeks. I think my Mister is going to enjoy me getting caught up.

Hello, friends!

Welcome to the Monthly Coffee, a little linky party hosted by me and Miss Angie from My So-Called Chaos.

This party is all about sharing those fabulous blogs that you've read this month. Let's grow our blogger community by sharing the best posts you've come across. You'll find new blogs to read, and we'll all make new friends.

So pour yourself a steamy beverage, grab the button and share your favorite reads this month.

Without getting into a lot of detail about work, there have been some changes rocking my industry lately, and that has definitely affected my choice of favorite posts this week. If you need a dose of encouragement, you're in the right place.

This encouraging post from Moose Studio has been helpful when with keeping things in perspective and staying positive. I'm especially focusing on not letting fear [of change] bring me down.

Nick Alexis Creates shared a list of 6 things to do to take a business to the next level. While a few suggestions relate to online businesses, there's quite a bit here whether your business is centered in the virtual world or is a brick and mortar outfit.

Not so long ago, Sue A Allen had a day that started aimlessly, and she shared her four steps for taking charge of her day and not letting her emotions rule how events turn out. When things seem to be out of control, it sure is easy to stay stuck in your head, replaying worst-case scenarios; she provides some tools to overcome that.

We all know how easy it is to get caught up in life and completely forget about the self-case that keeps us well enough to take care of our responsibilities. If you need a reminder, check out this list from Unapologetically Us of personal appointments that you should be keeping.

And for something a little lighter, I had a few chuckles at this post from Heart Mind Soul about getting an athletic style massage for the first time. Given that I'm taking a massage healing course at my dojo, I can certainly understand someone's responses when they've only received massage in a spa setting.

Disclosure: I am a Grove Collaborative influencer and may be compensated for orders made via my links. Thank you for your support of my blog.

Sometimes you just need to spoil yourself after a hard day. Or on a Tuesday — you know the feeling, right??

The team at Grove Collaborative (formerly ePantry) gets that, which is why they’ve put together this incredible Mrs. Meyer’s  Everyday Luxury Set set for you — for FREE.

The set feels like something you’d get as a gift from a chic friend — the kind of gift where you’d say, “Oh, you shouldn’t have,” before tearing it open. It includes a lovely Mrs. Meyer’s dish soap, Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap, Mrs. Meyer’s Candle, and Grove Collaborative Walnut Scrubber Sponges. So pretty and useful.

I especially love this Mrs. Meyer’s candle. It’s made with essential oils, vegetable waxes, and a leadfree cotton wick for a clean, healthy burn. It lasts so much longer than conventional candles and the lavender scent reminds me of the flower market.  I love to light one of these just before guests arrive.

Of course, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve to make the house sparkle without spending hours on it. One of my favorites is this walnut scrubber sponge. The combination of super-absorbent vegetable cellulose and crushed walnuts helps me tackle messy countertops, cookware and dishes fast.

If you’re new to Grove Collaborative, you’ll get this set FREE + free shipping when you use my link and spend $20. There are so many beautiful, healthy household products to choose from at Grove Collaborative, I just can’t get enough.

With a few clicks, I can choose my favorite products and scents, customize my shipments, and have them delivered right to my door (carbon offset, of course). I love Grove’s scheduling feature because I never run out of dish soap or paper towels, which means no more last minute, expensive trips to the grocery store!. That means more time to put my feet up, light my Mrs. Meyer’s candle, and curl up with a cup of tea.

If you’re already a Grove Collaborative subscriber, they want to pamper you too! You’ll get a free Mrs. Meyer’s hand soap with your next order when you use this link. I have the lemon verbena scent in my kitchen right now, but the basil and lavender are delightful too.

There are a limited number of sets available, and this offer is only good while supplies last or until Sunday, May 1 — so grab yours now.

Here’s how:
  1. Sign up for Grove Collaborative here. You’ll receive the Mrs. Meyer's Everyday Luxury Set for free when you sign up!
  2. Answer 4 quick questions about your home. This takes under 30 seconds, and Grove Collaborative will use this to customize your first basket.
  3. Once you’ve answered the questions, you can finalize your basket of products to suit your household needs by adding or removing items.
  4. To receive this offer, your order needs to total at least $20. Choose the combination of products and scents you love and receive in your first box.
  5. Click “Finish & Pay” and place your order.

That I am thrilled to finally have a low-key weekend on the books. We do have to attend a funeral tomorrow, but otherwise, we have no solid plans and that makes me so happy. I just want to do a little cleaning, read, crochet and maybe work in the garden for a little while.

I thought we needed a thank goodness it's Friday selfie.

I confess...

I have a joined a local knitting/crochet group that is working toward a yarn bombing project in September. I figure this a great way to keep me creating through the summer as well as inspired ideas for Chasing Blue Jays.

This piece will eventually wrap a street lamp. I am also bombing a tree; the trees will be judged in competition for creativity. So, I'll need a good theme for that.

I confess...

I have been soaking in the Financial Affirmations that Amiyrah from 4 Hats and Frugal has been sharing on Periscope this week. I've always believed in the power of positive thinking and speaking blessings into existence.

I was amazed that within two hours of creating this affirmation piece, a $350 bill was completely taken care of for us. God works in mysterious ways.

I confess...

These dogs have been motivating me to get out of the house for walks on these beautiful spring days. We'll only have a few more weeks before the weather gets oppressively hot; I'm sure hoping we can find some time to go down to the Riverwalk Park this weekend.

Easy peezy. Now on to the wine.

Since the Mister and I working on paying off our debt, we fully expect that we'll be spending a lot more time at home this summer, grilling and hanging out on the patio. And I love these wine bottle torches. Definitely plan to give these a shot.

If you've been around the blog for a while, then you've seen this photo pop up as a profile pic here and there; Red Truck is definitely a favorite wine for me.

I don't know why, but I have a hard time finding it now; so I got super excited when I found that it in a different Publix not so long ago; don't know why it isn't at my Publix.

By the way, I had a good laugh about this graphic. That is totally the best way to catch me unaware, and an offer of wine totally lured me to a ladies knitting group the other day.

In addition to everything that I wrote about yesterday, we had a national top producer in the insurance field visit our professional organization on Tuesday. I volunteered to drive him down to Charleston where his next engagement was. Spending time one-on-one with one of the highest producers in your industry is a rare opportunity.

I'm both thrilled and terrified that he's taken an interest in mentoring me. Working with someone of that caliber means that you have to make changes in your practice if you want to reach the goals he sets in front of you. I want to make strides in my career, but it gives me butterflies to try to picture the level of production he's proposing.

I confess...

Since I missed class on Monday because our organization took this speaker to dinner that evening, I stopped in on a judo class in Charleston before coming home Tuesday; I know the Sensei at the school because he is enrolled in my massage course.

It was a lot of fun to train with new people, and judo is similar enough to jujitsu that I didn't feel lost. But, man, it was a workout; those boys do not like to be thrown. I found myself pretty sore the next day. Paired with Wednesday's jujitsu class, my abs are now so sore that I don't want to do anything that might engage them.

I confess...

We have massage course this weekend, which means I'll be pretty much living in the dojo. At least I'll get several rubs, which should alleviate the sore muscle.

I confess that I'm not done with my homework. I spent most of the evening yesterday coloring in my Anatomy Coloring Book. I still have some reading and a quiz/review to complete.

I confess...

This weekend, the Mister and I also celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary. Time sure is moving quickly.

Next month, we'll also reach 11 years in our relationship. I've spent more of my adult life in a relationship with him than single; that's hard to believe.

I confess...

I'm ready for a weekend with no plans, which I think will be next weekend. I just want to chill with my dogs and crochet for a little bit. Gotta get those products wrapped up to launch the new etsy site. Have you liked the Chasing Blue Jays facebook page yet?

Hello loves,

I'm a little bit embarrassed to see that we're halfway through April, and I haven't written one update here on the blog. Life has definitely been a little crazy lately, and I wanted to catch you up on what's been going on.

During the last week of March, the Mister headed out of town to Reno for our jujitsu national convention. We couldn't make the budget work for us to both go this year. Originally, we didn't think either of us would be able to attend.

Since he was going to be recognized for his fourth-degree black belt promotion in 2015 (and he was invited as an instructor), our Senseis conspired and bought him a plane ticket. To us, this was reinforcement that God will provide when you're handling your money correctly. Hopefully, it will be my turn next year after my black exam in the fall.

While the Mister was out town, I asked a friend if she would help me with a surprise. I spent my Friday evening moving everything out of our bedroom, and we spent Saturday painting the bedroom. This color was inspired by Miss Angie's color choice for her bedroom. My choice is a couple shades away in the same color family.

I'm in love with the results, and I'm especially thrilled with how the color looks against the quilt we received for Christmas from my parents. By the way, Wayfair is an awesome and affordable store for refreshing your home's decor.

The week after he got home, we went into hardcore preparation mode for the Cayce Festival of the Arts. I don't know if I shared that with you guys that I was the chairperson for the event. The Festival was last weekend.

We had beautiful weather with the exception of wind gusts up to 35 mph, which nearly blew several tents away. Understandably, I worked very hard that day; according to my Fitbit stats, I had walked more than 26,000 steps, which is nearly 12 miles.

Also, I was pleasantly surprised to be promoted in jujitsu last week. I really thought my notebook would need to be updated and reviewed before I was going to receive a promotion, but I am happy to report that I am now only two ranks away from my school black belt promotion.

And finally, I'd like to report that I took another few steps toward opening my Etsy shop. I'm happy to announce the shop's name will be Chasing Blue Jays. I will sharing handmade items for you, your home and your furbabies.

Over the last month, I've been working with Miss Angie on a logo, and we just finished that up. The shop will be live in the next month or so, but in the meantime, would you help me out by liking the new Facebook page? Thanks!

Okay, reviewing all that has exhausted me again. So a couple quick announcements:

  • Friday Confessional will be back on track tomorrow morning; please join me in sharing all your dirty little secrets.
  • Wino Wednesday will happen next week since I missed it this week. Let's celebrate our love of all things wine-related.

Have a fabulous day, friends!
