Hello, friends!

Welcome to the Monthly Coffee, a little linky party hosted by me and Miss Angie from My So-Called Chaos. I'll tell you what. June just flew by; I can't believe we're at the end of the month, and that it's time to share my round-up of favorite reads already.

This party is all about sharing those fabulous blogs that you've read this month. Let's grow our blogger community by sharing the best posts you've come across. You'll find new blogs to read, and we'll all make new friends.

So pour yourself a steamy beverage, grab the button and share your favorite reads this month.

That said, here were my favorite reads lately:

Given that I had a conference this month and led a session during our leadership course, blog posts about improving leadership skills have been resonating with me. This post from Her After covers principles to help you be successful.

And if you're looking for ways to be more productive, then Sage Grayson has you covered with her concept of a before lunch list. This idea will help you get the most important items on your to-do list accomplished.

Continuing with the theme of productivity, I came across this list of ways to use your planner from Hello Giggles and loved it. I'm particularly liking the idea of tracking reading progress and recipes tried.

Since today marks the halfway point of 2016, it might be time to renew some goals such as getting the house organized. I Heart Planners has a quick list of organizing projects that you can accomplish in just 15 minutes.

Finally, let's look at some blog improvement. I'm always on the lookout for some good blog advice; this month I appreciated Meg O. on the Go's collection of bad blogging advice and why said advice wasn't a good fit for her. You really gotta evaluate all the blogging "help" out there and determine what works for your situation.

I know that it's been a little quiet around these parts lately. Life has been busier than ever between summer obligations and work travel, and this summer heat seems to sap any extra energy I might have at the end of the day.

Surviving Summer Heat on National Sunglasses Day

When the temperatures rise above 100 degrees and the heat index even higher, we go into summer survival mode. Lately, this is what I suggest doing to survive the summer heat.

Bust out a Swim Suit

We might be headed to the pool or the beach, but swimming is a necessary part of surviving South Carolina summer.

Drink Plenty of Beverages

I'm not talking about adult beverages (though I did share some ideas for Wino Wednesday earlier this month). I've been loving all the frozen seasonal drinks that show up on summer menus. This time of year is probably the most important time to really focus on hydration. I aim for 80-100 ounces every day and more if I'll be doing outdoor activities.

Keep Your Shades Handy

Honestly, I wear sunglasses year-round, but the glare of a South Carolina sun in the afternoon will have me digging in my purse the second I step out the door. I literally won't take another step until I find them.

Today is National Sunglasses Day, which is all the more reason to celebrate a cool pair of shades. We both found with our annual optometrist visists, that our prescriptions had changed.

We all know that prescriptions glasses can get price-y quickly, and since we'll both need new frames and sunglasses, I'm happy to share a cost-saving option - Warby Parker's Summer 2016 Collection.

Shop Warby Parker Online

The newest Warby Parker Sunglasses in the Summer 2016 Collection include shapes for both women and men in super fun summer  colors such as Grapefruit Soda, Sand Castle, Ocean Mint, and Belize Blue.

Warby Parker Sunglasses - Eastman in Belize Blue

Warby Parker Sunglasses - Tilley in Grapefruit Soda

Warby Parker Sunglasses - Topper 16 in Crystal

I can use Warby Parker's Home Try-On program, and they'll send me five pair to try on risk-free to help me decide which pair to purchase.

Also, for every pair sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need through Warby Parker's "Buy a Pair, Give a Pair" program.

With prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses starting at just $95, and progressive lenses starting at $295, I hope you'll join me in seeing summer better through Warby Parker.

Today is my Mister's birthday. This is the eleventh birthday that we've celebrated together. All of his thirties and on into his forties.

I love this man more every day.

The Mister has declared this song from Genesis Live Over Europe to be his birthday song of the day.

We're hoping for some good news on a job change today so keep your fingers crossed and send positive birthday vibes into the atmosphere for us.

Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

<div class="FRIDAY-CONFESSIONAL-HIGH-HEELED-LOVE-button" style="width: 200px; margin: 0 auto;"> <a href="" rel="nofollow"> <img src="" alt="FRIDAY CONFESSIONAL at HIGH-HEELED LOVE" width="200" height="256" /> </a> </div>

I confess...

This week has been a little sad for me since yesterday would have been my mom's 58th birthday. I just wish she could have been here to meet the Mister and see me grow up to become a business owner and eventually meet her future grandchildren. I sometimes think that having her gone gets harder as I get older.

I confess...

This rug rat got a surprise bath this week after meeting at the door like this. I want to know why pets get into this kind of trouble when you need to leave to be somewhere in less than an hour.

I confess...

It's another massage weekend so I'll be trying to cram all our weekend chores into a Friday afternoon before jujitsu class. I also have to finish my course reading tonight so there hasn't been much time to play this weekend.

As busy as these weekends can be, it's hard to believe that there are only four left before my black belt and massage exams. This year is moving so fast, and I still have so much preparation to do!

We're in full-blown summer here in South Carolina, which means that it's time for summer parties (preferably around the pool) and lots of refreshing summer cocktails.

We all know that I'm typically a red wine drinker, but when the temperatures are up, I like my cocktails fruity and frosty. I think fresh summer fruits and chilled white wine are the perfect combination for a refreshing summer drink.

Summer Fruity Cocktails

Can you really beat freshly-pick strawberries of a juicy, ripe peach when it comes to flavor?

Here are 5 fruity cocktails from around the blogosphere to make your next summer party much more refreshing and fun:
  1. Strawberry Moscato Lemonade from The Taylor House
  2. Blueberry Riesling Slush from Blooming in Bedlam
  3. Pineapple Sangria from Living Locurto
  4. Peach White Wine Slushies from 4 Sons 'R' Us
  5. Raspberry Chardonnay Cocktail from Sunny Sweet Days

Wino Wednesday is a monthly party where we celebrate our love of wine and wine-related life. Mark your calendar for the second Wednesday of each month, pour yourself a glass of vino, and make some new wine-loving friends.

If you are new around these parts, the Mister and I took the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University course through our church last year. We have a goal to pay off half of our consumer debt this year. You can catch up on our journey by checking out our previous recaps:

May Budget

May was a tough month to make ends meet. We pay our auto insurance six months at a time, and our premium was due. Also, the dogs were due for their yearly visits and vaccinations. We're not quite to the point where we have the wiggle room to set aside monthly amount for these expenses yet.

It would have been nice to have picked up a little more extra income, but I'm going to be content that we got all the bills paid. Not every month is going to be a huge payment on the debt snowball.

The bummer is that we finally got our tax returns back from the accountant. Even though we've been saving since we started the Financial Peace University course six months ago, we're still a few grand short. There's no two ways about it, it will have to go in the debt snowball because I'm not comfortable dragging my feet on payments to the IRS.

May Victories

The Mister has been hustling. While we didn't have a lot of extra income in May, he's lined up about four extra weekend gigs for next month, which should knock that debt increase due to taxes out by August. Also, I'm going to call the fact that we calmly sat down and created a plan for the deficit without any tears or fighting a victory.

In spite of the fact that May is a high expense month for us, we still managed to squeeze an extra $100 out of the cash envelopes in groceries and household to put on our lowest debt. It will be gone by the end of June.

Do you want to get started on your journey to financial peace? I'd suggest reading The Total Money Makeover or going to to find a local Financial Peace University class.

What are your financial goals for 2016? What changes are you making with your money and budgeting processes this year?

Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

<div class="FRIDAY-CONFESSIONAL-HIGH-HEELED-LOVE-button" style="width: 200px; margin: 0 auto;"> <a href="" rel="nofollow"> <img src="" alt="FRIDAY CONFESSIONAL at HIGH-HEELED LOVE" width="200" height="256" /> </a> </div>

I confess...

This week has felt a bit off since we were off on Monday. As much as I enjoy a holiday weekend, it does make it hard to get back into the swing of things when I return to the office.

We started our holiday weekend last week by having lunch with my dad and my niece on Friday. Then I drove down to Savannah to meet up with Miss Angie from My So-Called Chaos and Kimi from Kimi Who? It was a fun afternoon even if a tropical storm was trying ruin the weather.

I confess...

This silly pup figured out how to unlatch the gate with his nose this week and has had a few lovely races with the Mister around the block. We've put a lock on the gate now, but he definitely gave me a scare.

I confess...

Ninety-five percent of the time, I love my office location. But this is graduation week, which means that the public from the high school across the street has been illegally parking in front of my mail box, blocking my drive way, loitering in my yard and being careless of litter.

I don't want to be the lady who tows cars while someone is trying to celebrate a student's achievement, but this is a place of business. My property isn't open to the public.

Blah! It's a good thing it's Friday. I'm thinking, I'll have to find a free donut for National Donut Day to get over my grumpiness.

I confess...

I have massage class next week, and I haven't done nearly early hands-on practice. The solution is a spa day with some girl friends this weekend. One friend will be making lunch and mimosas. One friend will bring her manicure kit. And I will be giving massages.

I am so lucky that my friends will volunteer their time for me to finish my massage homework. They aren't complaining either.
