I confess...

Thanksgiving dinner at our house was a success yesterday. Everything was finished at the same time. I didn't have any break downs or get too stressed, and the Mister loved every bite.

Thanksgiving Dinner Success [Friday Confessional at High-Heeled Love]

The only thing that never came together was the baked pears for dessert because we were invited to a friend's house in the evening.

I confess...

I'm looking forward to another day of volunteering at our tree lot. Thankfully, an unexpected warm front came through our area. It's much more fun to be outside handling trees in the 70s than in the 40s.

I confess...

Today might be Black Friday, but there's no shopping happening for me today. I am thankful that I don't have to go anywhere near a mall today. The Mister has to run out to get dog food for the pups, but that's as close to a store we plan on getting.

I confess...

Now that Thanksgiving over, I think it's officially time to start baking Christmas cookies. Right now, these Mickey-themed cookies from The Partiologist are my favorite. Aren't they the cutest?

Hi everyone!

Welcome back for our Week 8 check-in on our Financial Peace Journey.

Financial Peace University is a weekly course that takes place over the course of 9 weeks; if you're interested in checking it out, you can go to his website www.DaveRamsey.com and search for nearby classes. We're taking ours through our church.

We're at the end of Week 9 of the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University, and we're discussing the ability to give back and how to bless those around us . Follow our journey to getting debt-free and meeting our financial goals at www.high-heeledlove.com

The Great Misunderstanding

In this lesson, Dave Ramsey discusses how an important key to wealth building is being generous with your money. He makes the argument that it all belongs to God in the first place and that we're simply stewards of his money. Part of being a good steward is taking care of the needs around us.

The Mister and I are firm believers in giving. Right now, we tend to give of our time since we aren't always able to financially contribute. I'm looking forward to becoming debt free so that we can choose to bless some people and causes we believe in.

This was the last session of our Financial Peace University, and we're now graduates. However, we're just getting started on our path to freedom.

We're at the end of Week 9 of the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University, and we're discussing the ability to give back and how to bless those around us . Follow our journey to getting debt-free and meeting our financial goals at www.high-heeledlove.com

For the Future

  • The Mister and I are continuing to work on our debt snowball. We knocked our four lowest off the list, and I suspect we'll be done with the next by the end of December.
  • I have agreed to become an accountability partner for someone who is walking this journey alone.
  • We are praying on whether we'd like to help coordinate a class next year, either in our church or in the general community.
I'm a little undecided as to how I want to continue FPU check-ins on the blog. Right now, I'm leaning toward monthly check-ins rather than weekly. Please let me know in the comments if you have a preference.

Finally, I would like to encourage my readers who don't have a financial plan to consider this course. It has brought me tremendous peace of mind to know that we're telling our money where to go to achieve our goals. The Mister and I feel that our marriage is much stronger because we're united on the front of money.

Friday, November 20

Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

Grab button for FRIDAY CONFESSIONAL at HIGH-HEELED LOVE-button
<div class="FRIDAY-CONFESSIONAL-HIGH-HEELED-LOVE-button" style="width: 200px; margin: 0 auto;"> <a href="http://www.high-heeledlove.com" rel="nofollow"> <img src="http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/highheeledlove/Blog%20Graphics/HighHeeledLove_zps6db62c81.jpg" alt="FRIDAY CONFESSIONAL at HIGH-HEELED LOVE" width="200" height="256" /> </a> </div>

I confess...

I am so glad it's Friday. This week has been ridiculously busy. No time for blogging or Periscope. I'm surprised that there has been time for sleeping, but puppy snuggles certainly help me make time for that.

I confess...

There was time for meeting a new blogger friend. I was handling clients in Charleston the other day, and found myself with an unexpected two-hour window between appointments. Luckily, Carolina from A Butterful Mind was up for an impromptu meet-up. We had coffee and gabbed about blogging and family.

I confess...

I probably shouldn't say this for fear of jinxing myself, but I have felt on point this week in jujitsu. Wednesday evening, we were working on Nage (our list of throws) and different ways to enter throws than the standard form taught. I felt like things were just working the way they should, and I was taking good falls. An additional victory: I finally figured out a throw that has been challenging me for years.

Also, the Mister received an approval letter from the Board of Professors in regard to his fourth degree black belt promotion. He is now nationally recognized at that rank and has been given the title of "Senior Instructor."

I confess...

I'd really like to do a Christmas cookie exchange, but I think I've waited too late in the season to get it organized. I was looking over the calendar last night, and those weekends just filled up fast.

I confess...

Despite rounding up all the holiday card deals last week, I still haven't found time to design and order our cards. I think that may be a goal for this weekend.

Check this off your to-do list this weekend: Order your Christmas cards. I'm sharing 3 great deals with you.

I don't know where the time has gone. A year ago today, we rescued our sweet boy from the freezing cold. He was a shivering, 5 pound 4 week old puppy who was just looking for a warm armpit to fall asleep in. He's been my boy ever since.
