Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

Grab button for FRIDAY CONFESSIONAL at HIGH-HEELED LOVE-button
<div class="FRIDAY-CONFESSIONAL-HIGH-HEELED-LOVE-button" style="width: 200px; margin: 0 auto;"> <a href="http://www.high-heeledlove.com" rel="nofollow"> <img src="http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/highheeledlove/Blog%20Graphics/HighHeeledLove_zps6db62c81.jpg" alt="FRIDAY CONFESSIONAL at HIGH-HEELED LOVE" width="200" height="256" /> </a> </div>

I confess...

In the last week and a half, we've had four promotions at the dojo. I'm really proud and happy for my fellow classmates.

But it's a bit frustrating for me because the biggest thing standing between me and a promotion is that I haven't updated my notebook. I really need to get that done.

I confess...

While going through photos yesterday, I came across this gem of me and the Mister from 2006. This was taken at a friend's 40th birthday party. I think that might have been the first of my friends to turn 40 - I was only 25 at the time. It's hard to believe this photo is nearly 10 years old.

I confess...

Now, a bunch of my friends have turned or are turning 40. The latest and greatest is my buddy Lee. Her 40th is tomorrow; we're celebrating by going out for sushi.

And she doesn't realize it, but there may or not may not be Over the Hill balloons hanging out in my spare bedroom right now. The plan is to let myself in and decorate her house once she leaves for work today. (Let's hope she doesn't read the blog today.)

I confess...

I'm so glad that July is almost over. Not only does August bring my birthday, but we're only a few weeks away from Gamecock football season. Only 33 days until kickoff!

That said, here were my favorite reads lately:

Makeup Organization Tips from I Heart Organizing [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]

Tip for a First-Time Home Buyer from My So-Called Chaos [Weekly Round-Up at HIgh-Heeled Love]

It seems that several of my friends have had garage/yard sales lately, and the Mister and I may be due to hold one soon as part of the de-cluttering process. Luckily, The Organized Mama has a post for that with some quick ideas for making the sale run smoothly.

I confess...
I have gotten about a week behind on my #JourneytoSplits, which is why there has been no progress report this week. It started out because the Mister was out of town and therefore couldn't take photos for me.

I was going to carryover into August, but now I've decided just to double up the last week. Stretching in the morning and the evening should get me back on track.

I confess...

While the Mister was out of town last weekend, we headed down to the Riverwalk for the July Columbia Bully Walk. Since the Mister wasn't around to disapprove of the muddiness, I let Roscoe play in the water. We now think he might be part hog.

I confess...

We've stayed on track this week with our meal plan (which I share on our gardening blog, A Little Seed Grows), and I've been really pleased with how the recipes have been turning out.

Last night's roasted cauliflower cheddar soup was amazing.

I confess...

I didn't realize when I planned this week's menu that today is national tequila day. I may have to switch things up so we can have margaritas and guacamole with dinner tonight.

I confess...

Except for jujitsu tomorrow morning, we have no plans for this weekend, and I'm so excited about that. It will be nice to just relax and focus on taking care of things around the house.

Photography Tips for Non-Photographers from The Creative Group [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
I am definitely an amateur photographer, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to learn to take photos better. This post on The Creative Group was an easy read to help you start taking better photos where ever you happen to be skill-wise.

Car Care Tips from Krystal's Kitsch [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
If you're like we are, you spend more time on the go in the summer, which means more time for stuff to just pile up in the car. At the moment, it's ridiculous how long it's been since I had my car washed; I need to fix that. If you need a starting point for keeping the vehicle tidy, check out these tips from Krystal's Kitsch.

DIY Flip Side Nail Tutorial from Julep [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
Because of jujitsu, I don't keep my nails long enough to rock this manicure myself, but I am loving this Flip Side mani from Julep. And they give you a step-by-step DIY. (P.S. If you aren't a Julep Maven yet, you can try your first month free - after $2.99 shipping/handling - using the code NAILS).

Have y'all seen this sweet baby? She's the newest addition to the family over at  Kimi Who?. Harley came home with them a couple weeks ago, and I'm loving how she's fitting in and all the kitten photos.

I confess...

I cannot believe that it's been a year already, but our sweet "niece" Emily turns 1 tomorrow. Where did that year go?

I confess...

I'm on my own at home this weekend while the Mister goes camping. I'm thoroughly looking forward to vegging in front of the television with the some girly programming and not sharing the wine.

I confess...

There are also plans to take the monster puppy to the Riverwalk for the Bully Walk on Sunday. Last weekend, we walked nearly five miles, and he was worn out.

I confess...

That on the note of pibbles. There is no way you can check out this post and NOT smile.

Thursday, July 16

So we're another week into July, and I'm going to share my week 2 of my #JourneytoSplits progress (see my July goals for details).

First let's look at a comparison of the five foundation stretches, which I'm completing everyday.

Foundation Stretch 1

Foundation Stretch 2

In some of these, I don't think the progress is as visible as what I'm feeling...such as being able to rest my head on my knee for more time in stretches 2 and 3. It's amazing what 10 minutes each day will do.

In addition to these five every day, here are the additional poses.

With a few of these, I was really surprised that I was able to hold the stretch for a full minute; Day 14, for example, was no joke. I can feel my abs getting stronger.

And I have a bonus photo for you; the Mister getting kisses from Paige while he was doing his stretches.

That said, here were my favorite reads lately:

How Writing Will Improve Your Life from Grammarly [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
Too many times in recent memory, I've lamented how the art of writing seems to be dying. I love the convenience of technology, but sitting down to write (by hand) is still so important. Grammarly agrees and gives three reasons writing will improve life even if you're not a "writer."

Improving Your Health Without Sacrificing Your Sanity from Fit Bottomed Girls [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
One of the things that I love about the blog Fit Bottomed Girls is that they give really practical advice for improving your health and fitness level. This week, I'm loving the post about ways to focus on being more healthy without sacrificing sanity.

6 Yoga Poses for People Who Sit All Day from Huffpost Healthy Living [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
I mentioned in my Friday Confessional last week that I finished last in a Fitbit step challenge; part of the reason is that I spend so much time at my desk at work. Since the work has be to done, I keep my eyes open for ways to combat the "sitting disease." I really like this collection of yoga stretches from Huffpost Healthy Living that help those of us who fly a desk stay loose and limber.

How to Survive in the Blogger World If You're Not a Mommy Blogger from A Peek at Karen's World [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
I love some mommy blogs but like Karen from A Peek at Karen's World, I sometimes get a little lost as a non-mommy blogger. Her post about surviving as non-mommy blogger is a good one if you ever feel a little overlooked in the blogger world.

This is Summer from Lucky Number 13 [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
I don't think you can look at this image from Lucky Number 13 and not love the summer feeling that she describes.
