Happy Sunday, everyone!

Welcome to the Weekly Round-Up linky party, hosted by me and Miss Angie from My So-Called Chaos.

This party is all about sharing those fabulous blogs that you've read through the week and promote our blogger community. I hope it will help you use this party to find new blogs to read and build some new blogger friendships.

So, here are the rules:

1. Grab the button.
2. Write a little list of your favorite reads this week and why.
3. Link up below and go find some fabulous new ladies to be friends with.

Grab button for WEEKLY ROUND-UP at HIGH-HEELED LOVE-button
<div class="WEEKLY-ROUND-UP-HIGH-HEELED-LOVE-button" style="width: 500 px; margin: 0 auto;" align="center" > <a href="http://www.high-heeledlove.com" rel="nofollow"> <img src="http://bit.ly/WeeklyRoundUpButton" alt="WEEKLY ROUND-UP at HIGH-HEELED LOVE" width="500" height="331" /> </a> </div>

That said, here were my favorite reads lately:

Patriotic Porch Ideas from On Sutton Place [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
I'm loving this American flag wreath that On Sutton Place included as part of her patriotic porch decor. It's a simple way to dress up the front door and be festive for summer and July 4th.

How to be Successful from the Wonder Forest [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
Can I start by saying that I love the Wonder Forest's definition of success? This is a great post to help your accomplish your goals...whatever they may be.

Easy Watercolor Mugs from Pocketful of Posies [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
Last year, I bought a bunch of white mugs at TJ Maxx with the intention of crocheting cozies for them, and it never happened. This DIY watercolor tutorial from Pocketful of Posies looks like a great crafty afternoon use for the mugs I have.

Favorite Workout Gear from Glitter and Gloss [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
Heather from Glitter and Gloss wrote a post to share her favorite workout gear, which I enjoyed. It's fun to see other bloggers' style, and I found a few new sources for athletic wear. Heather has lost more than 50 pounds this year; doesn't she look amazing?

Friday, May 29

Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

Grab button for FRIDAY CONFESSIONAL at HIGH-HEELED LOVE-button
<div class="FRIDAY-CONFESSIONAL-HIGH-HEELED-LOVE-button" style="width: 200px; margin: 0 auto;"> <a href="http://www.high-heeledlove.com" rel="nofollow"> <img src="http://i1151.photobucket.com/albums/o621/highheeledlove/Blog%20Graphics/HighHeeledLove_zps6db62c81.jpg" alt="FRIDAY CONFESSIONAL at HIGH-HEELED LOVE" width="200" height="256" /> </a> </div>

I confess...

On Memorial Day, we were expecting that the Mister would have to work. I had full intentions of taking my not-an-adult day. At the last minute, his boss gave him the day off at the last minute. So, we headed up the road to spend the day with my family at the pool.

It was great to see my parents. They only live an hour away, but sometimes life just gets too busy.

Memorial Day Catch-Up [Friday Confessional at High-Heeled Love]

Unfortunately, my nephew had a fall, so my step-sister and her husband were gone at the urgent care most of the afternoon getting him stitches in his chin.

I confess...

The monster puppy decided that he was going to eat my swimsuit bottoms, which is just cruel because now I'll have to go swimsuit shopping before I can head out to the pool again.

Roscoe the Monster Puppy [Friday Confessional at High-Heeled Love]

Moral of the story, I now have motivation to fold my clothes and put them away as soon as they come out of the dryer. See, he's making me better all the time.

I confess...

Stamping our Pit Bull Stereotypes via Dogly [Friday Confessional at High-Heeled Love]

Speaking of pups, I submitted a photo via Dogly as part of their campaign to stamp out pit bull stereotypes. My photo wasn't selected for the Buzzfeed collection, but check out all the pups who were.

I confess...

Yesterday, we went shopping at Buy Buy Baby for a friend's shower this weekend. Can I just say that store is my version of a nightmare?

Instead of being laid out in aisles like other stores, it's floor to ceiling displays of baby items in rooms/zones. It makes me very claustrophobic. (And I realize that Buy Buy Baby is the same company as Bed, Bath & Beyond; I get uncomfortable in there, too.)

Boon Grass Drying Mat [Friday Confessional at High-Heeled Love]

That said, we picked out the Boon grass drying rack, which I just discovered is half the cost on Amazon [affiliate link]. If I ever have a baby, I'm registering there instead. Naturally, I'd spend the difference in costs in shipping if I ordered it now - such is life.

I confess...

I'll be attending a leadership class at a conference next month, and I have about 200 pages of our book to read in the next couple weeks.

Leading at the Edge [Friday Confessional at High-Heeled Love]

We're reading Leading at the Edge, which focuses on leadership lessons from the shipwrecked Antarctic expedition lead by Sir Ernest Shackleton [affiliate link]. The book is really good; I just have a hard time reading about sub-arctic temperatures when it's supposed to be summer time.

I've finished lesson one of ten; I better buckle down this weekend.

That said, here were my favorite reads lately:

DIY Soft Scrub from The Turquoise Home [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
I really prefer to use natural options in my house when possible, so I was thrilled to come across this super easy soft scrub recipe from The Turquoise Home, which only requires three ingredients. I especially like that it's gentle enough to use in our porcelain tub.

DIY Built-In Fireplace Tutorial from IHeart Organizing [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
Despite the lack of blog updates, we've been getting closer and closer to finishing our living and dining room renovation. One thing we haven't decide on is how to re-do the fireplace. I'm in love with this built-in fireplace tutorial from IHeart Organizing because it would allow us to add more storage to our home.

Where Are All the Mediums? from Venus Trapped in Mars [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
Like Sarah from Venus Trapped in Mars, I consider myself to be a "medium-sized" girl, and I want to know that same thing: Where are all the mediums? And why is it so hard to find a medium girl in today's advertising?

Better Phone Photography Tips from Krystal's Kitsch [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
Since a really nice digital camera is still on the wish list and not likely coming to live at my house anytime soon, I use my phone as my primary camera. Luckily, Krystal's Kitsch has put together some great tips to help improve camera phone photos.

Pitbull Puppies Who Haven't Figured Things Out from The Dodo [Weekly Round-Up at High-Heeled Love]
While not exactly a read, you cannot go wrong with adorable pitbull puppies. And these sweeties on this post from The Dodo have absolutely made my morning.

I confess...

With a long weekend on the horizon, I've been scrambling at work to get a bunch done. So today's confessional is going to be short and sweet.

I confess...

I hope that you find some time to honor our fallen heroes this weekend. My former classmate, Staff Sgt. TJ Dudley has been on my mind this week. It's not right that he was gone at age 29 during his sixth (SIXTH!!) deployment...only weeks before he was due to come home to his wife and three children.

Freedom comes at a steep price. Let's all be mindful of that when life gets a little crazy and patience wears thin.

I confess...

On an un-related and much light note, I somehow completely missed that last Friday was my sixth blogiversary. We'll have to celebrate with a giveaway next week.

Tuesday, May 19

Yesterday, the Mister and I picked up our tax returns for 2014, and as expected, we owed money. His changing of jobs last year has made him happier, but our tax situation is more complicated as a result - because quarterly estimated taxes.  As a result, we had another budget discussion, and we have to tighten our belts.

This is part of adulting - taxes and budgets and meal plans. Gah, it's enough to make your head spin.

If I didn't own a business or have to work or be a grown up, this is what my day would look like:

Puppy Alarm Clock [I Don't Want to be an Adult Today at High-Heeled Love]

Sleep in a late as I want...not as late as the puppy lets me.

Eat cookies with my coffee for breakfast.

Drink Coffee, Buy Shoes [I Don't Want to be an Adult Today at High-Heeled Love]

Go shoe shopping all morning, and not worry about the credit card bill that's going to follow.

Go to day class in jujitsu and then have a leisurely lunch.

Do my nails and toes because that always falls to the bottom of the to-do list.

Enjoy a good book on the patio.

Wine Down with Roscoe [I Don't Want to be an Adult Today at High-Heeled Love]

Watch a movie, drink some wine and snuggle with my pups.

So today, I just don't want to be an adult. Luckily, there's a linky party for that happening at The Grand Adventures of Me. What would your day look like if you didn't have to be a grown up?

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a Swiftie, but when I bought Taylor's latest album, "Bad Blood" was the song that I liked the least. However, after weeks of instagram teasers, I was excited to see the video, which released this morning. I have say, the song is growing on me.

I confess...

I must admit that I'm a sucker for baby animals. Yesterday, I rescued this little one from the bushes around my office.

Office Kitten named Sunshine [Friday Confessional at High-Heeled Love]

I really tried not to name her because I wasn't sure that we were going to keep her, but the Mister had deemed her name is "Sunshine." Now, I have an office kitty.

That being said, another mouth wasn't in the budget for this year, so if you have kitty supplies to donate to the cause, please feel free to send them my way.
