That said, here were my favorite reads lately:

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up - Daily Habits to Stay Optimistic from the Positivity Blog

These three daily habits to stay optimistic from the Positivity Blog were something I needed to read this week. Sometimes life gets a little overwhelming, and a few good habits can keep the day from turning into a half-empty.

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up - Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies from Ambitious Kitchen

It seems like there are always more bananas in our house than we can eat while fresh, so this whole banana oatmeal cookie recipe from Ambitious Kitchen looks like a great fit to try out. Doesn't the photo just make your mouth water.

HIgh-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up - Comment on Other Blogs from Kimi Who?

Since this linky party is about growing our blogger community, it makes me happy when I get to share blog posts that help us do that. And Kimi Who? hit the nail on the head with reasons why you should comment on other blogs.

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up - Screen Freedom: Feed the Birds by Maxabella Loves

Maxabella Loves has a series on her blog called screen freedom, which is focused on unplugged activities for her family. I am loving all the bird feeder ideas she shared recently.

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up - DIY Cabinet Hardware Jewelry Orgazier from the Happy Housie

I believe when I get home from Austin, I will have to start hunting hardware to make my own jewelry organizer inspired by this DIY Cabinet Hardware Jewelry Organizer that the Happy Housie shared.

I confess...

I am LOVING my time in Austin so far. The weather has been gorgeous; I can't get enough of the sunshine and blue Texas skies.

I confess...

We started the day off by trying to go to Franklin's Barbeque; we were hoping since I arrived at 11 a.m., that we'd get into line before the wait was too ridiculous. Unfortunately, luck wasn't with us, and the wait was more than 2.5 hours so we headed over to Stubb's BBQ instead.

Good morning, my friends!

I'm officially in vacation mode. I'm sitting in the Charlotte-Douglas Airport right now waiting for my flight to Austin. Since I started the morning before 4 a.m., it feels like half the day has gone by, but it's only a little after seven right now.

I'll tell you what, the pups did not know what to think of alarms going off so early. BTW, did you see this photo of my cuties on the 'gram yesterday? They're good coffee buddies, too.

High-Heeled Love: Airport Virtual Coffee

This morning's good mood is sponsored by coffee and a cajun filet biscuit from Bojangles. Actually, this is my second cup of coffee. Considering that we have a full day planned when I arrive in Austin, I expect there will be a couple more doses before the day ends.
Good morning, friends! What's on tap for today?

People watching in the airport is interesting, and in an airport like Charlotte, which is international, you see all kinds and some daring fashion choices as well. I will freely admit that I've been doing some mental judgement today, but I really shouldn't.

So, I really want to give a shout out to the moms out there who have flown with children under the age of 5. There is a family on this trip with two little ones; the youngest is probably about 18 months. Mom and baby were sitting directly behind me on the last flight, and the kids have been so good. I just don't know how you moms do it. It's about all I can do to get myself where I need to be.

High-Heeled Love: Airport Virtual Coffee

Can we talk about the fact that I miss my pups already? The Mister and I can talk on the phone, but puppy kisses don't translate via FaceTime.

It's a good thing that Janna has two sweet babies for me to love on. Don't you miss your furbabies when you travel? In the meantime, check out this pibble cuteness!

You know the kind of Monday morning where you need a good fun song to start your week? Yeah this that kind.

I started my day off with a trip to my mechanic because yesterday morning, I came out to find a flat tire. It was raining. Actually, my tire pressure light was on Saturday, and I had it checked out at a local tire store and was told everything was fine...which is why I hate that my mechanic isn't open on the weekend.

Anyway, I'm lucky my Mister was willing to put the spare on yesterday. This morning has been successful - the nail is gone, my tire is patched, and it wasn't too painful on my wallet or schedule.

And since I head out on vacation this week, I am choosing a fun song with a fun video for Musical Monday. Check out the air guitar skills of the motel manager.

By the way, my dog does tricks too - like pulling down my potted herbs and eating them. He's lucky he's cute. Happy National Puppy Day!

That said, here were my favorite reads lately:

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up - What Makes a "Good Design" from the Wonder Forest
One of the best ways to improve you blog is to update your design. The Wonder Forest has a good list of things that go into good design if you're a little confused on what to do or not do.

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up - Quick Blueberry Jam from Food 52
Since my Mister loves blueberries so much, I think this quick blueberry jam, featured at Food 52, is on our future to-do list.
High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up - I Don't Have Any Friends from Kimi Who
Kimi Who wrote a post about not having any "friends," which I completely relate to. It's hard when all your good friend live far away (or have opposite schedules); sometimes you just need some companionship other than a significant other.

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up - Organized Travel from IHeart Organizing
With my Austin trip right around the corner, I thought this post from IHeart Organizing about organizing your suitcase and carry-on was spot-on. It was good to get a few new ideas before I start packing.

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up - Crispy M&M No Bake Peanut Butter Cookies from Life with the Crust Cut Off
Since I had such success with crispy M&Ms and the Oscar cookies, I know that I need to try these no bake peanut butter cookies with crispy M&Ms from Life with the Crust Cut Off. Maybe I'll even find time before my trip.

I confess...

Old Man Winter must have been upset that his reign was over for the year because yesterday's weather was cold and rainy. But today is the first day of Spring! And our yard is celebrating with blooms on everything.

I confess...

My best buddy knows exactly how to tempt me to take a road trip to visit - send me lots of photos of his sweet baby girl. I just want to kiss these cheeks.

I confess...

Less than a week until I head out to Austin to see Janna....and I cannot wait. She has promised that she has so many fun things planned that I will need a vacation from my vacation. I don't know how much blogging I'll be doing while I'm out there, so be sure to follow me on instagram to keep up with the trip.

High-Heeled Love: Friday Confessional 3.20.15

I confess...

The hardest part about going on vacation will be leaving the pups here in South Carolina. The Mister has promised lots of photos and facetime calls so that I won't miss their sweet faces too much. And I will miss the Mister, too, not just my pups. =)

Wednesday, March 18

Good morning, friends!

High-Heeled Love: Virtual Coffee 3.18.15

Wednesdays start early for me, but I have a few minutes to sit with you for coffee before I have to head out for my breakfast meeting.

Since  I had the foresight to lay my clothes out last night, I actually had a few extra minutes to focus on my make up this morning. It really is the simple things that make our mornings easier, huh?

High-Heeled Love: #YSL Mascara

Anyway, I received a free YSL mascara from Influenster last week, and I wanted to try it out since what girl isn't on the hunt for a new favorite mascara? I was a little inspired by the gold packaging to pull out some liquid gold shadow and liner. I'm pretty happy with the results.

High-Heeled Love: #YSL Mascara MOTD

The mascara wasn't clumpy, and it gives lots of volume without making me look too done up for work. Here's a little mascara application tip: bend over a hand mirror so you're applying from an "upside down" perspective. The change in angle will help you get every lash, even the tiny ones in your inner corners.

High-Heeled Love: Virtual Coffee 3.18.15

Is everyone else enjoying these spring mornings as much as we are? We're soaking them, and spending a lot of time in the sunshine, which is necessary because tomorrow is going to be cold and rainy.

Fortunately, the weather should perk back up a little for the weekend, which is good because the Mister and I want to get some yard work and garden prep done. He wants to start some seeds and keeps asking me what I want to grow in the garden. I'm thinking tomorrows, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, spaghetti squash and lots of herbs. I also want strawberries and blueberry bushes.

Would you add anything to my list? You can keep up with our garden progress on our other blog, A Little Seed Grows.

Well, y'all. The alarm that tells me to leave for my breakfast meeting just went off. So I guess I gotta run. Hope you enjoyed our little coffee date. Catch up soon.

Monday, March 16

As time keeps flying past us, St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow.

In Columbia, the big St. Pat's in Five Points celebration was Saturday. The fountain was dyed green, and the green beer flowed with lots of live music all day. I didn't go anywhere the festival, but Mister worked the door some friends who own a shop down in that area. He said it was crazy this year.

Instead, we took the pups down to Five Points on Sunday for the Bully Walk. I was pleasantly surprised at how well my dogs got along with all the others, and Roscoe was worn out by the time we were back in the car.

Anyway, I'll be pulling the green out tomorrow and making some St. Paddy's inspired food for the holiday. If you need a few ideas for the menu, here are my favorite finds.
