Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

I confess...

The girls and I had a great time last weekend on our ladies day trip to Charleston. One of the girls had never been to the city. She's also a photographer so it was interesting to see what caught her eye to take photos.

We also met up with my sister, who's a student in Charleston, and had a fabulous lunch at Hyman's.

I confess...

On the way home, I wasn't paying attention, and we ran out of gas one mile from a gas station. This is particularly embarrassing since I drive a hybrid, but thank goodness I do. I was able to use the car's eco mode to drive us that one mile and coast into the gas station even though the gas was gone. Otherwise, we would have been walking in the dark and cold down a country highway I'm not familiar with. Not a good idea, you know?

I confess...

I may have indulged in Oscar cookies and coffee for breakfast on more than one occasion this week. There's just something about chocolate and caffeine that go together in my head.

I confess...

The Mister and I are participating in an iaido clinic this weekend. I talked about what an honor it is to work out with Matsushita Sensei before our clinic last fall. Taking a two-day clinic learning from the best in the world is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We're pretty fortunate the our dojo and sensei has the relationship we do with this talented martial artist.

If you were on instagram last night then you know the Mister and I attended an Oscars party last night...as was evidenced by the margarita-induced selfies.

In addition to Oscar cookies, margaritas and champagne, the hostess made a life-sized Oscar, which was the grand prize for whoever had the best ballot of predictions. We called him Moscar.

I thought it would be fitting to share my favorite Oscar song for Musical Monday. The performance of "Glory" from the motion picture soundtrack of Selma was amazing. Congrats to John Legend and Common for the win last night. (Affiliate links)

For fun, here are a couple other details from the party last night:

I confess...

I thought with open enrollment ending that I'd have a little time to catch up and work and create some breathing room. Not so much. It's a good thing to be so busy since I work for myself, but I need a day off.

Fortunately, some ladies and I are making a day trip to Charleston this weekend. More happy news includes warmer temperatures while we're there.

I confess...

I know that our cold temperatures are not as bad as some parts of the country, but I am so miserable right now. The only thing I can say is that cold weather is great motivation for my crafty projects.

I finished up my first knitted scarf on Tuesday evening, and it has been keeping my little neck warm. I'm moving on to hand warmers this evening.

I confess...

It's no secret that we cook chili frequently at our house when the weather is cold outside. Our neighborhood association is having a chili cookoff this weekend, and the timing with the weather couldn't be better.

I'll be entering our turkey squash chili, and I'll be sharing the recipe tomorrow at A Little Seed Grows. Check it out if you want a healthy chili to warm up with.

I confess...

In jujitsu on Wednesday, we were filming throws and falls so that those of us who are junior belts could review and see what adjustments need to be made. I was surprised to find this video on my phone.

These are two of the blacks that I train with. It's a blessing and curse to train with so many talented senior students. Even though they have a decade more martial arts experience than I do, I can't help but expect my techniques to look like theirs.

I confess...

This is an absolute truth in my house.

I confess...

Roscoe figured out how to jump on the bed this week. So even though I have been vowing that no dogs would be sleeping in bed with us, I caved. Fortunately, he's a really good snuggler.

I confess...

I am OVER winter. I'm ready for consistently warm days and sunshine and flowers growing in the yard. Until then, I've been trying to keep fresh flowers in the house to add a bit of springtime even if it's still cold and yucky outside.

I confess...

Do you see that gorgeous heart pine dining room table? Our neighbor gave it to us as part of our dining room remodel. It was handmade for her, but it doesn't fit in the dining room of her current house.

She just wanted it to go to a home where it would be loved. We love it. The best, that's a lazy susan in the center.

I confess...

I asked the Mister to take me to see the Kingsman for Valentine's Day. Let's forget about love stories, I want to laugh, and to me this movie looks hilarious.

Hello, fellow winos!

Welcome to Wino Wednesday! This is a monthly linky party where we discuss any and all things wine-related. You may remember that last year, I co-hosted this party with Danielle from The Crafty Wino. Unfortunately for us and fortunately for her, her business has her too busy for a regular blogging. So, it's just me this year.

So pour yourself a glass and grab the new button for the party. Let me cover the ground rules for the party:

  1. Grab the Wino Wednesday party and slap it on your post.
  2. Link a wine-related post to the linky party.
  3. Make some new friends over a glass of vino.
  4. Mark your calendar to join us for Wino Wednesday on the second Wednesday of each month.

I grew up listening to country music, but the Mister wasn't a country music listener at all when we first started dating. I know my music has rubbed off on him through the years, but I was surprised when this Tim McGraw song came on a couple weeks ago and the Mister said it was one of his current favorites. I hadn't heard it before then, but I agree with him.

The feeling of calm and peace in this song and video is what I want my home to be like....and I can't help but admire Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. They had just debuted on the music scene when I was a girl, and hadn't even gotten together yet. It's hard to believe they've been married nearly 20 years.
