The Mister picked up tickets last week for us to go see Lee Brice at the State Fair.

Lee is from South Carolina, and I just love him. Both his albums have been on repeat in the car for the last couple weeks, and it was mighty hard to pick just one song to share this week.

Here are more appearances by Lee Brice on High-Heeled Love:
Hard to Love
Love Like Crazy

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Welcome to the Weekly Round-Up linky party, hosted by me and Miss Angie from My So-Called Chaos.

This party is all about sharing those fabulous blogs that you've read through the week and promote our blogger community. I hope it will help you use this party to find new blogs to read and build some new blogger friendships.

So, here are the rules:

1. Grab the button.
2. Write a little list of your favorite reads this week and why.
3. Link up below and go find some fabulous new ladies to be friends with.

That said, here were my favorite reads lately:

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up 9.28.14

1. Lemon Dill Salmon sounds just perfect for dinner soon...maybe a little date night with the Mister? Check out the recipe at A Place of My Taste.

2. I thought this post about prioritizing payments to pay debt off faster at Beyond the Khaki Pants was interesting. Knowing which card to throw money is something my friends and I have talked about recently, so AV's logic was helpful.

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up 9.28.14

3. I'm an easy target. After reading several blog posts about Hello Lindt Chocolate, I had to go buy some this weekend. But I especially liked Bonnie's way of introducing the topic by sharing how she met one of her college best friends.

4. Who would argue that you should try to change your spouse? I totally agree with Elisabeth's list of five things to try to change in your spouse.

High-Heeled Love: Weekly Round-Up 9.28.14

5. Last weekend, Kenzie from Chasing My Extraordinary got engaged while hiking with her (then) boyfriend. Later in the week, she shared pictures from the hike, Ring of Fire, outside of Seattle. The next time we head out west, the Mister and I have to check this place out in person.

Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

I confess...

I feel like every blog post this week should start with a cup of coffee. So let's go there first.

High-Heeled Love: Friday Confessional 9.26.14

Do you ever have the kind of week where you feel like a chicken with it's head cut off, running around but not accomplishing much? I've had one of those weeks. I get to spend the morning today in a board meeting when I really need to be in the office. It just goes that way sometimes.

I confess...

I love fall, but so far this week, our fall has consisted of rainy, cold weather and mist. Not pretty fall foilage and crisp sunshine-y afternoons. Maybe all the good weather is coming next week since our jujitsu clinic starts on Thursday.

I confess...

I haven't been as diligent about getting my fitness minutes in for the #NoExcuses challenge this month. I'll still complete the 1500 minutes, but just barely.

A number of ladies in the group are saying the October challenge will have to be a redemption month....It should start out well for me since the first two days will be training all day.

However, I have been rocking the push-up challenge. Only missed one day so far and made it up the next morning. These last few days are going to be tough!

I confess...

I stopped in to visit with my best buddy Rob yesterday since it was his birthday. And of course, I wanted to see Sweet Baby Em. This face, I can't even...

I confess...

This has been a busy week. I've been on the go everyday this week for work so I'm happy to have a day to  catch up on paperwork. Sometimes you just need a day with no meetings to sit quietly in the office and knock the to-do list down.

I confess...

That said, yesterday my meeting was in the upstate so I got to have lunch with my buddy Rob and sweet baby Em. She woke up long enough to let me hold her and give a bottle...then she was only interested in being held by her dad.
High-Heeled Love: Sweet Baby Em

I confess...

I think the fall weather has finally arrived here in Columbia, and I'm loving it. Having all the windows open and fresh air in the house is one of my favorite things ever.

I confess...

We will be watching the game with my awesome friend Lisa and her husband this weekend. They've recently moved back to South Carolina from the West Coast, and we're so thrilled that they're back.

Stationery Card
View the entire collection of cards.

It seems too early to even think of the holidays. I mean, I just wrote about a Halloween swap last week.

But the thing is that work gets so busy starting next month that I HAVE to start planning for the holidays now or nothing gets done.

Shutterfly (affiliate link) sent me a code last week for 10 free cards...so we've begun the Christmas card process. Here are a few of our cards from previous years - 2013, 2012, 2010 A & B.

Don't get mad at me for starting my holiday shopping early, okay? I promise not to start decorating until after Thanksgiving.

Have y'all heard this debut single by Maddie & Tae?

Well I wish I had some shoes on my two bare feet
And it's gettin' kinda cold in these painted-on cut-off jeans
I hate the way this bikini top chafes
Do I really have to wear it all day?
(Yeah baby)
I hear you over there on your tailgate whistlin'
Sayin' "Hey girl," but you know I ain't listenin'
Cause I got a name and to you it ain't
pretty little thing, honey or baby
It's driving me red red red red red red redneck crazy
Being the girl in a country song
How in the world did it go so wrong?
Like all we're good for is looking good for
you and your friends on the weekend, nothin' more
We used to get a little respect
Now we're lucky if we even get
To climb up in your truck, keep our mouth shut, ride along
And be the girl in a country song
Well, shakin' my moneymaker ain't ever made me a dime
And there ain't no sugar for you in this shaker of mine
Tell me one more time you gotta get you some of that
Sure I'll slide on over, but you're gonna get slapped
These days it ain't easy being that…
Girl in a country song
How in the world did it go so wrong?
Like all we're good for is looking good for
you and your friends on the weekend, nothin' more
We used to get a little respect
Now we're lucky if we even get
To climb up in your truck, keep our mouth shut, ride along
And be the girl in a country song
Yep, yep, yep
Aw naw,
Conway and George Strait
Never did it this way
Back in the old days
Aw naw,
We ain't a cliche
That ain't no way
To treat a lady
Like a girl in a country song
How in the world did it go so wrong?
Like all we're good for is looking good for
you and your friends on the weekend, nothin' more
We used to get a little respect
Now we're lucky if we even get
To climb up in your truck, keep our mouth shut, ride along
Down some old dirt road we don't even wanna be on
And be the girl in a country song

Yeah baby
I ain't your tan legged Juliet
Can I put on some real clothes now?
Aw naw

These two girls call several of country music's male artists out big time on objectifying women in their music and videos. Now the girls say that they aren't trying to be a feminist voice in the country world, but they wanted to give a different viewpoint of that girl in a country song.
We love all the artists that we're picking at, and we love their music. We are fans of "bro country." But the thing is, we wanted to bring a fresh and new perspective to country music. Country music is all about telling stories, and we're just telling a little different one.
- Tae Dae, interview with Rolling Stone

It's hard to believe these girls are only 18 years old.  I can't wait to see what else they create as they mature more as artists...and count down the days until their album releases.
