Monday, April 29

Earlier this month, I signed up for the Music Mixup swap, hosted by Kim from the K.O. story. Kim hosts a monthly mixed tape (cd) swap with a theme. April's theme was "Inspiration."

So for Musical Monday this week, I am choosing a song from the playlist that I sent to my partner Becca from Everyday Life.

I have always loved Hooverphonic, but I didn't realize that they had recently released an album of their songs recorded with a live audience. That is a pleasant surprise, and a show I would love to see live.

Want to know what songs inspire Becca? Here is a playlist of most of the cd that she sent to me.
Inspire (by Becca) by highheeledlove on Grooveshark

Grooveshark was missing a few of the songs:
1. "My Best Days Are Ahead of Me" by Danny Gokey
2. "Angel" by Scarlett Cherry
3. "Inside" by Scarlett Cherry

I loved that my mixup cd didn't include any songs that I already owned, but did include several songs I already loved. Becca's inspiration songs also introduced me to a few new artists to love and follow.

Be sure to head over to Becca's blog to hear more (pun intended) about the cd I sent her, and don't forget to visit the K.O. story to see other music mixup participants.

Good morning, lovelies!

I hope that y'all have had a fabulous weekend so far. Welcome back for the Weekly Round-Up linky party, hosted by me and Miss Angie from My So-Called Chaos. We want this to be something that focuses on sharing our favorite reads throughout the week so that you can find fabulous, new blogs to read.

So, here are the rules:

1. Grab the button.
2. Write a little list of your favorite reads this week and why.
3. Link up below and go find some fabulous new ladies to be friends with.

That said, here were my favorite reads this week:

1. Amy from At the Pink of Perfection wrote about her upcoming 30th birthday shared a list of 30 things that women should do or know by age 30. As someone just shy of the other side of 30, it was interesting to see how many I have accomplished.

2. This post about men and cat photos shared by Claire from Bicoastally is hilarious. I will definitely be checking this blog out in the future when I need a good laugh.

3. Our home is not necessarily small for a starter, but because of it's age, we lack closet space and storage....so I loved these tips on small storage solutions that Chelsea shared on Homes.com.

4. I shared posts by Beth from Living a Goddess Life all the time because I love the way she approaches life, but I'm particularly loving her guest post on Green Mountain Couple's blog about why she'll never be a famous blogger. (And half those reasons apply to me as well.)

5. I've been following Amber's blog Brunch with Amber for nearly as long as I've been blogging; I don't know how I found it, but I love her little blog. And I love this post About Amber post written by her long-time boyfriend Nate. He managed to say many kind words about this fabulous lady while still being humorous.

Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

I confess...

You know how in slapstick comedy movies, someone fall into or have a cream pie slapped in his face? I accidentally pied myself the other day with a bagel and cream cheese. I thought it was hilarious, but I was thankful for the fact that there was no one else there to capture the moment.

I confess...

Last night was date night. We had tickets to a silent auction and gala to help raise money for cancer research. I decided to get my nails and hair done...and that pretty much turned into me taking an unplanned Pamper Me day off.

I went with Julep's Marion on my toes and Sienna on my nails.
I'll also be linking today's post with Fabulous but Evil and My Vickilicious Life for The Nail Files.

I confess...

The Mister and I had a fabulous evening out last night. It's nice to have a good excuse to get dressed up everyone now and then.

I confess...

We closed my Thirty-One party yesterday, and I was shocked at the hostess benefits it generated. My consultant is awesome, and she really helped me have a successful party. I can't wait until all the goodies come in so I can show some of the cute bags my friends ordered. If you're interested in hosting an online/catalogue party, contact Janna. She rocks.

I confess...

My husband is spoiling me. He found a great deal on the Dyson vacuum I've been lusting after for years, and ordered it for me as a belated anniversary gift. I've never been so excited about a shipping email for a vacuum before. I guess that makes me a grown up.

Also, today is Arbor Day so plant or hug a tree today.

Hello, friends!

Welcome back for this week's Wino Wednesday, co-hosted with Danielle from Secrets of a Sweet Southern Girl. Let me cover the ground rules for the party:
  1. Grab the Wino Wednesday Button
  2. Write a post that is wine-related
  3. Link up and visit with the other partiers
Easy peezy. Now on to the wine.

So for Wino Wednesday, I'm going to talk about what we did for our anniversary, which was actually last Wednesday. We didn't actually celebrate until Saturday just because schedules are crazy.

We started the day out at Brown Box and came home with tons of fresh produce. Then we decided to go to the annual flower festival at the state farmer's market.
We didn't actually buy all that much. I wanted a few lantana for my butterfly garden, and we got some jalepeno pepper plants since the Mister didn't start those from seed.

I was also keeping my eyes open for a bottle tree. We saw a number that looked like this, but I nearly died when I saw this one....which is of course way outside my budget right now.
When we made it home, we decided to put some of our fresh produce from the morning to good use and make our anniversary dinner. Here was the menu for the night.

Let me just say the orange butter sauce on the Brussels sprouts is my new secret weapon when it comes to veggies. That sauce will make any meal fancy. As you can see, we thought that the meal was horrible.
You may notice that this Chianti was also in my pictures last week from our anniversary celebration last year.

It was the wine we ordered at dinner last year for our celebration. We both liked it so much, that we've decided to get a bottle each year to have with our special meal. In the world of wine, it's not terribly expensive, but it is a bit pricey to be an everyday wine.

I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be a Christmas video, but that doesn't stop me from sharing it in April. I love this take on a lyrics video by the Pistol Annies.

And I think we can all relate to the lyrics in this song.

1. Kim from the K.O. Story wrote about what kind of legacy she would like to be remembered for one day. The idea of how you'd like to be remembered is a good way to help you decide how you want to behave when faced with a hard decision in life.

2. La Caseta de Paper is quickly becoming one of my favorite blogs for creative ideas, and I love this list of inexpensive fun spring activities. I bet you'll find a fun idea or two on it.

3. Along with spring and nice weather comes grilling out and picnics. Lindsey from Hello Hue shared her husband's spicy and sweet barbeque sauce. It sounds so yummy; I really want to make ribs tonight as result of reading about it.

4. My Palmetto Blogger friend Paulene posted her race recap of the Cooper River Bridge 10K. This a race on my bucket list; maybe I should bite the bullet for next year.

5. Kim from Latte and a Prayer shared the story of how she and her husband came to be in a long-distance marriage. I have a lot of admiration for couples that can handle the LDR; it sure isn't for me.

Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

I confess...

This morning started with an automated call from some spoof phishing company before I'd had my coffee, and that just ticks me off. Isn't that what being on the Do-Not-Call list is for? Grrr.

I confess...

That at least I get to have a second cup of coffee this morning for free. Starbucks is doing free tall house blends until noon today. I mean, it's free coffee...so we're all having a big blogger date at 10:30, right?
Source: Starbucks twitter feed
I confess...

The Mister and I planned to cook a special meal together for our anniversary, which was the other day, but the schedule has been so busy, we've barely eaten at home all week. I think we're bumping Pizza Night tonight to have our special meal.

I confess...

The Mister did bring me home so beautiful flowers on Wednesday. I love having fresh flowers in the house.

I confess...

I ordered the Mister's anniversary gift more than three weeks ago, and it hasn't even shipped yet. The merchant hasn't responded to any of my emails either. I'm highly irritated...it's a good thing there's free coffee this morning.

Easy peezy. Now on to the wine.

First off, today is our third wedding anniversary. This time last year, the Mister and I went to a Wine 101 tasting class at a local bar owned by a friend, Wine Down on Main. We also made friends with another couple in the class and wound up joining them for a delicious meal at a local Italian place.
