Welcome back for this week's Wino Wednesday, co-hosted with Danielle from Secrets of a Sweet Southern Girl. Let me cover the ground rules for the party:
  1. Grab the Wino Wednesday Button
  2. Write a post that is wine-related
  3. Link up and visit with the other partiers
Easy peezy. Now on to the wine. This week, my Wino Wednesday is a little random....

I hope I never have to resort to this MacGyver technique for opening wine (wouldn't it be easier at this point to buy a screw top bottle?), but it's a good trick to know since I always have a hammer in the toolbag in the car.

For all my future brides out there, this is a quick way to have mimosas and not wind up too tipsy.

This glass must come live in my kitchen!

But don't let the "Don't even ask..." line above lead to this:

Happy Wino Wednesday, my friends!

It's been a couple weeks since I've hooked up with RJ from Art @ Home for the Happy List linky, but that doesn't mean that there hasn't been plenty to be happy about. After the Mister and I had such a good weekend, I really wanted to share.

1. If you follow me on twitter, you know I was quite excited about Friday being National Margarita Day. The Mister and I went to Mellow Mushroom with one of his co-workers for pizza and margaritas. I was quite in heaven.

2. On Saturday, we headed up to the Charlotte area to visit with my step-sister and her husband and meet my adorable new nephew, Sweet Baby TJ. They have just finished construction on an addition to their home, and the house looked great. I am in love with the newest man in the family; unfortunately, I was way too busy holding him to take pictures. Trust me, though, he's a cutie.

3. After we left their house, we stopped by to see my parents and visit with them for a while before we headed back home. It was a very relaxed visit, and we stayed for dinner. My dad grilled brats, and we had them with french fries and sautéed onions and bell peppers. Simple meals with great family company is the best way to end an evening.

4. On Sunday, the Mister and I hit up our favorite local brunch spot, 116 State (no surprises there). I always get the three-potato hasbrowns with two eggs over easy. It might be my regular, but it's yummy every time.

5. And today, I finally sucked it up and went by the bridal shop to pick up my dress for Kate's wedding. Recall from my Friday Confessional that I was concerned that it wasn't going to fit yet. Apparently, I had nothing to worry about. The dress fits, and it looks like I'll need only the slightest alterations. I'll try to take a picture this week to share with y'all.

I'm so tired of winter and cold weather and rain. And this fun summer song by Leighton Meester, who plays Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl, makes me think of humid, summer evenings and refreshing drinks. It's too catchy not to enjoy.

Good morning, lovelies!

I hope that y'all have had a fabulous weekend so far. Yesterday, the Mister and I headed up the road to visit with my step-sister and her husband and to lay eyes on our new nephew, sweet baby TJ. He is a doll baby, and I'm in love.

This is the second week of the Weekly Round-Up linky party, hosted by me and Miss Angie from My So-Called Chaos. We want this to be something that focuses on sharing our favorite reads throughout the week so that you can find fabulous, new blogs to read.

So, here are the rules:

1. Grab the button.
2. Write a little list of your favorite reads this week and why.
3. Link up below and go find some fabulous new ladies to be friends with.

That said, here were my favorite reads this week:.

1. I adored this blog post that Ashlie (from Painting Bliss) wrote about her grandmother's 91st birthday. Love the piece of art she created for her grandmother. What a thoughtful and beautiful gift!

2. I can completely relate to Vicki's (from My Vickilicious Life) thoughts on being disgruntled. It's so easy to just be irritated, but her post provided a little bit of an attitude check for me. I could certainly stand to let the little things go and just be more chill.

3. Last week, the Mister emailed me this tutorial on a DIY dog hammock for the car, created by Emily (from Merrypad). Now, I'm itching to make one for my pup. I think I need to buy a sewing machine first.

4. A quick shout-out to a fellow Palmetto Blogger, Carrie (from The Carrie Gland) shared her non-scale victories about staying hydrated. Her post was a nice little motivator to drink my water. I think the Non-Scale Victories, hosted by Life by Lex and KTJ Weighing In, on Thursdays might be a good little fit for me since I don't own a scale, especially in light of this week's Friday confession about that bridesmaid dress.

5. And just for fun, go meet the monkey friend that Nykki (from Nykki Talks Beauty) made at the zoo last week. Her five-year-old niece wouldn't let her take him home, but I don't blame her for wanting to. I think a trip to our zoo may be in order soon.

Good morning, lovelies!

Confession is good for the soul, so grab the button and let it all out. You'll feel better when you're finished.

I confess...

I hate getting the hiccups. I always get the painful kind. And I learned the hard way the other night trying to brush you teeth while you have the hiccups is next to impossible.

I confess...

I'm ridiculously sore from Wednesday's jujitsu class. You know it's a good class when your gi is soaked and just about everyone steps off the mat for water and to catch their breath. We were working on nage, which is our list of throws. Even the Mister, who has been training for 12 years, told me how sore he was last night.

I confess...

The bridal shop left me a voicemail that my dress for Kate's wedding has come in. I'm afraid to go pick it up because I'm not sure it's going to fit. You may remember that I confessed a few months ago that ordering dresses during the middle of Christmas season is not fair. Let's just say, I really need to get back to running now or have some more jujitsu classes like Wednesday.

I confess...

I found out this week that I'm going to be a great-aunt again. Another one of our nieces is expecting again. I can't wait for the next bundle of joy to arrive in August. Since we have two new nephews, I'm hoping for a little girl this time.

I confess...

The Mister just handed me a cup of Chemex coffee, and now that whole world seems brighter even though it's nasty rainy outside. We're supposed to get another winter storm come through. Enough already. When will it be spring?

Before I jump into Wino Wednesday, I wanted to take a quick moment to let you know that Danielle's father passed away unexpectedly on Monday. Please keep Danielle, her sister Jodi and all the rest of the family in your prayers.

Congrats, Holli! I'll be sending you an email later today to get your details.

These last couple of weeks, it seems that I've been all about champagne....particularly mimosas. You may have seen it popping up on my pinterest, Facebook and instagram:

I don't know. There's just something about celebrations and champagne that just go together. What do you think?

I've mentioned before how much I've enjoyed the NBC Show Smash. The Bombshell sountrack (tracks from the musical in the show) released last week, and I've had it playing on repeat in the car.
Source: Smash FB page

"I Never Met a Wolf Who Didn't Love to Howl" (featuring Megan Hilty) is probably one of the most fun tracks on the album. It will get stuck in your head.

And I love the romance of the song "History is Made at Night" (featuring Will Chase and Megan Hilty).

I can't wait to see what happens on tomorrow's episode. Are you watching the show? Did you enjoy the Season 2 premier as much as I did?

Good morning, lovelies!

I hope that y'all have had a fabulous weekend so far. We had crazy winter weather yesterday, that involved rain which eventually turned to hail. Needless to say, I stayed indoors all day.

As I mentioned last week, Miss Angie from My So-Called Chaos and I have decided to turn my weekly Round-Up posts into a linky party. We want this to be something that focuses on sharing our favorite blog friends and their fabulous blogs.

So, here are the rules:

1. Grab the button.
2. Write a little list of your favorite reads this week and why.
3. Link up below and go find some fabulous new ladies to read.

That said, here were my favorite reads this week:.

1. Miss Lindsey from Follow the Ruels decided that for Valentine's Day, she'd collect some of her friends' worst date stories, which is good for a few laughs and entertainment.

2. Beth from Living a Goddess Life calls it the way she sees it about body image in the media. She's right. And I love her viewpoint that we really have to stick together and love our body types no matter what we see in society around us.

3. For a simple and sweet photo, go check out Honey My Heart's Heart Shaped Balloon.

4. You probably know by now that coffee is the way to my heart, and I've been drooling over this Skinny Espresso Chocolate Mug Cake, created by Pamela from Pamela's Heavenly Treats. I love that she has a variety of mug cakes on her blog, which is nice when you don't need a whole batch of cookies or cake laying around the house to tempt you all week.

5. Finally, I usually try to share one post where I'm really proud of the writer for dealing with the hard stuff. This week, I have a lot of admiration for Chelsea from Hello Miss Chelsea for talking about how hard it can be to trust after being cheated on.

Okay! So let's see what's on your round-up! Will you share below which blog posts have been your favorite this week?
