So three days into October, and I just can't believe that we're here already. October begins the busiest time of year for me. It's not just that I start holiday planning in October. (Did you see our 2013 holiday card the other day?)
I get super-busy at work the last quarter of the year. I'm in insurance so obviously the health insurance enrollment that began on Tuesday is affecting me. Also the Medicare annual enrollment starts on the 15th.
And we have our fall clinic at the dojo. This year, the Mister and I are hosting a friend who is flying in from Hawaii to train.
Plus there are birthdays and Halloween to celebrate.
In light of all this, it almost seems futile to set monthly goals, but I'm going to do it anyway. First, let's look back at September.
Get back to the running program and complete my 5K at the end of the month. Incomplete - Our groupons for the race weren't valid so we decided to postpone the running to October. Spend some time journalling at least once per week. FAIL - Nope, not even once, which is a shame because I really miss journalling. Get my jujitsu notebook updated and re-written with all corrections from my exam. Incomplete - I did go over the corrections with my partner, but I haven't done any updates Sit down with the Mister and update our budget. PASS - We even created a spreadsheet to track when the bills are due and got a plan together for savings and paying off our credit cards. Bake that bread and pizza dough. Incomplete - I have the ingredients and they're on the meal plan for this week. Go through the closet. FAIL - This needs to happen, but I probably won't have time, and after reviewing our budget, I'm not going to try to update this season unless a replacement item is absolutely necessary. Help the Mister plan our fall garden and actually blog on our gardening blog. Incomplete - The Mister has ordered seeds; our garlic came in this week! But we didn't get to the blog.
Honestly, with all the work classes I had to complete last month, I'm not even going to feel badly that I only completed one goal. As far as I'm concerned, the goal I did accomplish was the most important on the list.

So what are the goals for October?
- Begin the running program. The Mister has agreed to do this week me; I think having a partner will help with accountability.
- Go walking with the pup and the Mister for at least 30 minutes twice a week.
- Log all workouts on the Daily Mile.
- Wrap up the hallway & bathroom renovations and blog about it.
- Update my jujitsu notebook.
- Attend our jujitsu clinic and take two classes to that challenge my comfort zone.
- Help the Mister plant the fall garden.
- Blog on our gardening blog.
- Treat myself to a pedicure or massage at the end of the month because I know I'll be crazy stressed from work.
- Spend some time each week writing and reading for fun.
