Hi everyone! It's Monday, and I had a busy weekend helping my friend move, but that doesn't mean that I won't be sharing my Happy List with you.

1. We had perfect beautiful weather this weekend. It was sunny and warm. 70-degree days in January? Sometimes I really love living in South Carolina.

2. I headed up to Clemson to help my buddy finish moving into his new house. We were both appreciative of the good weather. Of course, not everything is unpacked...that would take weeks. But it was nice to help him settle in and shop for home goods. We bought a small fortune's worth of curtains this weekend. And I really needed a weekend away from Columbia. I came back to town yesterday evening feeling very recharged. That funk I was in last week is GONE!

3. This weekend two of my favorite people in the whole world had birthdays. On Saturday, I called nice and early and woke my brother up for his birthday, and Sunday was my Kate's birthday. I just love those two. They both live one the west coast, but cards and presents were mailed last week.

4. This quote was in my in box this morning from Real Simple, and it totally makes me smile. The shoes are super cute too!
“It is an amazing thing, the difference to one’s powers of concentration a pair of comfortable shoes can make.” ― Laurie R. King

5. I just checked out Mamarazzi's Taking Back Monday Swap for the week, and I won last week's giveaway for the $25 gift certificate to Rhonda Michaels Jewelry! How awesome is that? Head to my post from last week to see some of my favorite pieces. If you want to see what she's giving away this week, click this button:

Fun Fridays

This weekend I'll be donating blood at the Red Cross. I try to donate blood at least four times a year. There is always a need. Who else is a donor?

I'll heading up to Clemson one day to help my buddy with moving, unpacking or whatever other help he needs as far as his new house goes.I'd also like to take myself out to see this movie.

A number of my blog friends have said No Strings Attached is really funny. With the way my week has been going, an evening to myself to laugh at a chick flick might just help me out of my funk.

What are your weekend plans? If you want to play along with Fun Fridays, click the button to link up with Jen's blog.

Confesssion is good for the soul.

I confess...
This week I've been rather uninspired when it comes to blogging. I don't know if it's because the weather was gray and rainy, which typically gets me down in the dumps. Or it might be because I took so many CE classes for work, which means that I've played catch up all week when I got back to the office. I'll have to make this right next week--I've been a pretty good blogger this month.

I confess...
I've also been dealing with some jealousy this week. It makes me sad that I have this issue, but I'm going to be honest and say that I do. I'm not jealous when people get stuff...I have all the material possessions that I need and my Mister spoils me. I get jealous of relationships. The green-eyed monster is ugly, and I want to kick it out of my life.

I confess...
I'm missing my bestest like crazy. She moved to California at the end of the year, and I've been finding it hard to make the time to get ahold of her on the phone. The damn time difference is making things difficult. I really hope that we get to catch up this weekend.

I confess...
Despite the title of my blog, I do own one pair of heels that a tad too high for me. I bought them for my Halloween costume and I really like them. But they don't have a heel strap, so I don't wear them that often because it's easy for me to turn an ankle in them.
I confess...
These shoes were featured in Cosmo piece on upcoming trends last month. I had to smile because (1) I had bought them about four months before so I'm ahead of the trendy =) and (2) Cosmo listed the retail price at $150. I paid $24 at TJ Maxx.

I confess...
That even though I worry about twisting an ankle, I am wearing said pair of shoes today because I do love how tall I feel when I wear them. I am taller than the Mister...he calls me an Amazon when I wear them.

My Happy List is a time each week when I share all the things putting a smile on my face.

1. My new sunglasses arrived on Friday, a full week ahead of schedule. And I love them even more in real life than I did online. They came with a pretty case, so I can't sit on them.

2.  Yesterday, I purchased The Script cd online, and it's been making me smile while I read my blogs and catch up online.  So far, my favorite song is "Before the Worst."

3. I went shopping for my Pinktastic Swap package yesterday and had a lot of fun searching out fun pink items. My box is almost full! I can't wait to send it to Janna!

4. I don't talk much about work on my blog, but all my hard work is paying off. This week, we hit a major goal for the month. It's a pretty big relief.

5. I know I say this every week, but coffee pretty much rocks my world. I'm so lucky that the Mister is willing to make it for me so often....or I would probably spend a small fortune at Starbucks.

Because confession is good for the soul.

I confess...
Image & quote from Real Simple

This week I can totally relate to this quote:
“She’s got this real funny idea about a diet: you don’t get fat if no one sees you eating.” ― Gloria Naylor
I won't tell you what I've been eating, but let's just say it's not in line with my generally healthy diet.

I confess...

I also didn't go grocery shopping this week, which may explain my food choices. My poor husband has been subsisting off cereal, PB&J and scrambled eggs. And yesterday we ran out of bread and milk. So I guess I better do the responsible thing before he threatens me with divorce...or his mother hears that I haven't been feeding him. =)

I confess...

I haven't worked out once this year. That's not going to get me on track with my fitness goals. I can't even blame it on the weather because it's been pretty nice this week. I've just been lazy. I really need to register for a race so I'll have a reason to move my butt.

I confess...
I went to bed at 9 p.m. last night and slept until 7 this morning. I've been mentally exhausted from work and needed the extra rest. But I'm supposed to get up around 6:30 so I was late this morning. With no shower or make-up. And I may be wearing a repeat outfit. I can't help it. It's comfy and makes me look extra skinny. How do you pass that up?

I confess...

I found a mix cd I made when I was a freshman in college and I've really been enjoying it. Even if it contains more than one song by Mariah Carey. And I totally car danced this morning to "The Thong Song." It was fabulous.

A friend emailed this story to me the other day, and I thought it was worth sharing...

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker 's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ''I know why.''

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said,''People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?'' The six-year-old continued,''Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.''

One of the Mister's favorite Christmas gifts was a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses. The Mister is incredibly picky, and we'd been shopping for a new pair of shades for nearly a year. So when he decided that this was the pair, his mother and I made sure that Santa knew about them.

He's wearing them in just about every picture I took in San Francisco.

I've never had much luck with sunglasses. I always seem to misplace them, or they break. (Ahem, or my little dog eats them...seriously, she ate three pairs last year!) So, I usually stick to the cheap pairs so I'm not too upset when something happens.

I've wanted a pair of Oakley sunglasses for a long time and could never justify spending much money on shades, knowing my track record. However, Ruelala featured Oakley on Monday, and I couldn't resist purchasing this pair for just $59.00!
Sometimes, you just have to spoil yourself a little.

P.S. If you haven't heard of Ruelala, you really need to check them out. They feature designer boutiques at discount prices for a limited time.

Last night we met up with our "trivia crew" for dinner. Dinner was a chicken and broccoli pasta bake, and dessert turned out to be these yummy cookies.

Mint Chocolate Delights

Ingredients

PREHEAT oven to 325° F.

COMBINE
flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels. Drop by well-rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

BAKE
for 11 to 13 minutes or until cookies are puffed and centers are set. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

FOR MINI MINT CHOCOLATE DELIGHT COOKIES:
Prepare dough as above. Drop by well-rounded measuring teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 9 to 10 minutes or until cookies are puffed and centers are set. Makes about 7 dozen mini cookies.

P.S. I finally got my signature designed. What do you think?

I'm feeling productive this Saturday morning, so I thought I would work on my happy list a little earlier than I usually do.

1. I'm happy to wake up and find an email from Mamarazzi with my swap partner. I can't wait to put together a super pink package for Janna.

Happiness is a Journey for Janna

 2. Coffee makes me happy. And so does drinking it out of my coffee mug. (The Mister's mom saw it and thought of me.)

3. Last night, we head to the Flying Saucer and finished up The Mister's Ring of Honor. Now we get to have a plate party.

4. The snow and ice is finally starting to melt off. I'm so glad the temperatures are back in the 40s.

5. Within the next three weeks 4 of my friends/family members have birthdays.
